Why Moz

Moz Designs was founded in Oakland, CA by two brothers in 1990. While Moz facilities have grown over the past twenty-five years to accommodate the demands of production, they still remain dedicated to their roots. Moz is one of the few vertically-integrated manufacturing facilities in Oakland, CA; all of the products are designed and produced on-site in their facilities. Moz is also dedicated to partnering with local and domestic suppliers whenever possible for materials, paints and equipment.

Aluminum 101: Why Use Aluminum?

  • Lightweight
  • Corrosion-resistant
  • Easy to form
  • Reflective
  • Durable
  • 100% Recyclable

Because aluminum is lightweight, it is ideal for architectural applications for ease of handling and installation. Aluminum can be formed into any number of different shapes and sizes.

According to the Aluminum Association, aluminum sheet and plate aluminum can be recycled continuously without loss of properties. Because aluminum can be infinitely recycled, 75 percent of all aluminum ever produced is still in use today. The aluminum industry is committed to reducing its carbon footprint. As a whole, carbon emissions from the aluminum industry have declined 19 percent since 2005 and 37 percent since 1995.

Family Owned

The inception of Moz, like many great ideas, was born in Murray’s garage. Murray, whose childhood nickname was Moz, starting building metal furniture in the late 1980s. What was a part-time hobby soon became a full-time obsession and in 1990 Murray was joined by his brother, Tripp, in founding Moz Designs. Murray and Tripp pioneered new design techniques on metal that soon became a hit in the local architectural and design community. Before long, they were diving head-long into complex custom fabrication projects while continuing to grow their line of metal surfaces. Today, Moz Designs focuses on creating seamless design solutions for easy, cost-effective installations. Murray and Tripp continue to remain active participants in the business and are excited to continue to grow the Moz family.
