The Sandhu Dining Hall is a large student dining facility that seats 600 students. Each specialty food area has a distinct visual presence. The Ocean Grill emulates the waves of the Pacific Ocean adjacent to a circular “firepit” that houses the actual mesquite grill. The product is a custom Móz Tides Rolling Waves, made from solid-core aluminum in the color Royal Blue, with the pattern of Waterslide. The undulating forms were fabricated by Móz to resemble a giant wave, which is lit with great intensity so that the eye is drawn from across the complex to the Ocean Grill. After investigating numerous materials only Móz was able to give us the custom fabrication we desired with the dramatic impact our design required.
